Kathy Barrick: RETIRED Designs

As they do from time to time, Hoffman Distributing Company discontinues carrying patterns that aren't great sellers. In the past, I've carried on normally as I knew Norden Crafts would continue to distribute those designs. Since Norden has closed shop, and because Yarn Tree only carries a limited number of patterns, I'm kind of stuck with the 19 designs Hoffman discontinued.

So, I've decided to retire 19 designs permanently. And, please understand this doesn't break my heart for a few reasons. Obviously, they weren't great selling designs. And having 19 fewer charts to have to have reprinted is kind of nice. I am quickly learning why I had been renting a HUGE printer when I had Carriage House Samplings. It's much cheaper to print your own charts than to have them professionally printed. Waaaaaay cheaper!! Unfortunately, renting that printer was very expensive, so I am not able to consider that option yet.

When designing my designs, I never think "oh this is going to be a great seller" or "oh this isn't going to sell well at all." I just design what I like an try to make elements fit together in a pleasing manner. My goal is always to come up with something different. I just kind of hope that stitchers will like them too! And that isn't always the case.

And, this morning I'll be working on listing the models for sale in my sampler Etsy Shop as well. There is no reason for me to store them indefinitely. The prices will be reasonable, but I will be taking into account what I paid a stitcher to stitch the design for me and what I paid for frames. I'm not out to make money on these, just to send them to new homes.

I actually stitched a couple of these myself!
