Lynn's of Madison
I had such a great weekend in Wisconsin! Teaching at Lynn's of Madison was a joy! Lynn and her staff are absolutely wonderful, enthusiastic and fun!
And of course, I didn't take a single photo. Sheeeeesh.
I flew into Milwaukee and Lynn's husband Harry met me at the airport. Harry is awesome! We stopped at a local brewery for a quick lunch, then it was off to Lynn's shop. What a treasure trove!!!! If you can get there, GO!!! Lynn carries not only cross stitch and framing, but art supplies as well. It was incredibly inspiring. Her stock of linen is HUGE and she carries sooooo many threads.
After hanging out at the shop all afternoon, Lynn, Harry and I had dinner then it was to my hotel for some last minute class prep and some much-needed sleep. Lynn picked me up bright and early the next morning and we headed back to the shop where I had the pleasure of meeting many of Lynn's wonderful customers. We hung out in the back room where everyone stitches (but me! I was just too unfocused and excited to stitch!).
Kathy, who master-minded my entire weekend, was SUCH a joy!! Kathy is in charge of the cross stitch end of Lynn's shop. She thought of every detail and she and I had so much in common, including our names - first and middle! We have the same taste in samplers, jewelry and more. I had brought a bit of my jewelry with me to display with my trunk show and Kathy helped finance my rent for the month of May!! Thank you Kathy!!
Nancy is the framer in Lynn's shop. She's amazingly creative and talented and works so very hard. Her framing is exquisite and I wished I had a finished sampler with me to have her frame.
Another worker girl at Lynn's is Stacia. Stacia is AMAZING! She's a red-headed beauty who at the age of 20 has already published her first book and is working on her second. Such talent!
Barb is a customer at Lynn's and she had lunch with Kathy and me on Saturday. What fun!!! She used to babysit for a couple named Rita and Richard who had five children - Richard, Robert, Ronald, Reed and Roger. We all decided that when Rebecca (the rabbit) and Rodney (coming soon!) have babies, I have their names all ready for them!
CandACE is another customer I met at Lynn's. We sat for the longest time and talked while she stitched (she was much more focused than I!) and commiserated on our lack of memories.
The women who took my class were amazing! Such fun and such talent and an absolute joy! I was honored to meet each and every one of them. They did a fantastic job on their journals and worked so very hard hemming their samplers. I'm hoping to get some photos emailed to me so I can share with you what they made.
I've been spending lots of time designing lately. One sampler is almost ready to go out the door to Carol Sims. Thank you Carol!! Another I plan to stitch myself.
In between, I've been making jewelry, enjoying spring, mowing grass (5 times already!), going to baseball games, working at the antique mall occasionally. I'm a happy girl!
If you look closely at the photo above, you will see Bella behind to chain link fences. Bella loves to visit my next door neighbor, Gloria and can crawl under the fence between our back yards. She cannot, however, crawl back into my yard. So, Bella sits and waits for me to come rescue her, at least 10 times a day!
Gloria loves to garden and spends hours outside every day. Her yard is beautiful! And, she loves Bella, thank goodness!
Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
