Melancholy

causing melancholy or sadness; saddening: a melancholy occasion.

soberly thoughtful; pensive.

I love the word melancholy. It's almost musical.

Today is a melancholy day. I feel soberly thoughtful and pensive (see #3 above). It's not horrible, it's just melancholy. Today I said goodbye to an old place, an old way of life, old friends, old memories. Saying goodbye can be hard.
