Today...
I woke up this morning with plans to mow the grass and drag the rug out from my dining room and scrub it to death on the back porch. Sounds fun, right? Not exactly! Then Liz, my daughter, called on her drive into work this morning and asked me what my plans were for the day. After I told her, I had a lightbulb moment. I don't HAVE to spend each and every day scrubbing rugs, mowing grass, cleaning the house, doing laundry, designing samplers, stitching, or making jewelry. I can do anything I want!! I can take a whole day and go to a museum, visit antique shops, or absolutely anything I want! I swear it was like a lightbulb went off in my head. Liz, being the wonderful daughter she is, encouraged my new found ideas completely. She gave me ideas of what she likes to do when she has a whole day to do whatever she wants. One thing she mentioned was taking her camera and just going out and photographing anything her heart desires. What a fabulous idea!!
For literally years, I've saved all fun activities for weekends. I'm self-employed and I take myself very seriously (in just the self-employed part of myself - otherwise, I tend to not take myself too seriously). When I had Carriage House Samplings, I would spend all day doing sampler work, then let myself make jewelry at 4:00 every day. After Carriage House was no longer mine, I spent all day making jewelry.
I don't have to do that!!!!
So, what have I been doing today?
Making jewelry. Go figure. I think I need to spend some time figuring out what I'd like to do, prioritize what absolutely has to be done before I take off and THEN take off for a day. Sheesh!
If any of you who are local enough would like to join me for an occasional day off, let me know!

Aww sweet piece of jewellary ...I wish I can come and visit you ..I think I need a flying carpet :)
Sending you hugs x
Lovely jewellery which you obviously enjoy doing. But an occasional day playing hooky would be good, too.
Hahahaha. Get out of my head, Kathy!
am i close enough?
I think if it wasnt for housework we would all be relatively free to do what we want, kinda like men are really -
Those kinds of days are some of my favorite dreams for retirement. Enjoy them when you can!
