Look What I Found!
I went antiquing for a couple of hours in New Oxford, PA this morning. I only found one thing, but what a treasure it is!
It's a pinwheel!! A square, cross stitched pinwheel!
The linen is so fine and the stitches are very tiny. I counted 27 stitches in an inch. And it's stitched over two threads of linen! That's 54 count linen!
Can you see the bird? How old do you think it is? I'm thinking mid-1800's.
I couldn't wait to get home and make a necklace with it! I carefully stitched two jumprings onto the corners.
I used neutral colored gemstones to make the chain....smoky quartz, labradorite, citrine, rutilated quartz and a single fluorite stick that I've been hoarding for years! (Don't ask me why!)
So this piece is for all of my stitching friends out there who are sick to death of seeing my jewelry and are impatiently waiting for me to post something about stitching. I KNOW you're out there!!!
This one's for you!
It's available here!
