Antique Samplers
In a few minutes, I'll be loading some antique samplers for sale on my Etsy shop. Here's a preview!
Those of you who stitch reproduction samplers will recognize this as The Goode Huswife's 1809 Quaker Sampler. I lent her my antique sampler before I had started designing myself. This is the original!
It's a gorgeous sampler! The colors are amazing. The condition is good, although there are worn spots in a line across the middle. It had obviously been folded for quite a while before it was ever framed.
It also has a stain, a very dark stain.
The motifs are wonderful!
The frame is from Olde Colonial Designs.
Ok, here's the next one:
Anne (The Goode Huswife) also reproduced this Quaker Sampler. She called it Little Red R because of the tiny red R in the upper right hand corner.
I've never seen another Quaker sampler quite like this one.
See the red R above?
I had a custom frame made for it and it's stunning and looks very old. It has never been reproduced.
This one has been reproduced. It's Anne's "Sally Weed" sampler. I LOVE this one! It's very unusual.
Sally stitched it in 1851 and she was born January 4, 1837.
The frame is one I had made, then grained it myself.
So there you have them! I'll be posting them HERE in a few minutes.
Have a great weekend!

Below is another antique sampler I'll be listing:
This is a Quaker sampler as well, but it's a marking sampler with no motifs.
It's dated 1832.
It's in great condition with only a couple of worn spots. It does need to be re-stretched though. It's sagging a little in the middle.

Oh Kathy, how can you bear to part with these beauties?!
SONO DAVVERO,STUPENDI,GRAZIE DI AVER PUBBLICATO QUESTE MERAVIGLIE,CIAO DA ROSELA ITALY
You have inspired me.
I have a 36" hardanger piece made for my grandparents by nuns in the thirties. It was never washed or used, has spent its life in storage. My house is small with only a kitchen table. I'm going to have this framed and display in in my living room.
GORGEOUS!!!
