A Day Off
After a solid week of filling orders, I took a day off today. It was wonderful! I went to Hagerstown first thing this morning to see my Mom, who is doing much better and is on the road to recovery. On my way home, I stopped at a couple of antique malls. That's always fun! Then, I came home and made jewelry. Oh the sheer joy of making jewelry!
I wanted to show you this necklace I made today. I found the old, carved bone piece in Maryland. I've never seen another like it. I believe it's an angel. It could possibly even be a tombstone angel. Have any of you seen one of these before? Can anyone give me some clues?I'd love to know more about it.
This is another necklace I made today. The slide locket is a souvenir piece from Cathedrale de Reims in France. The tiny book locket is also from France. There are b/w photos inside of Saint Therese.
This slide locket is embossed with an image of Joan of Arc. It's a gorgeous piece! And you KNOW how I feel about slide lockets. Tomorrow I'll be filling orders again, but today was sheer joy!

I just have to say that it looks like a bat to me - turn it upside down.
OH MY GOSH JILL!!!!! I think you're right!!!!! I NEVER would have figured that out. Thank you so much!!
Kathy
Lovely jewelry designs and about your fascinating carved bone piece...
The first thing I saw was a bat (eyes and ears) and a quick online search found a reference to a similar description on a ceiling painting- interestingly enough, at Winterthur.org
hmmm... i saw insect. with eyes.
Angel?? LOL

That of beautiful images! It is too attractive
Best regards
Hi Kathy! Hmmmm...I'm going to W.A.G. that it is a Victorian piece perhaps of mourning jewelry. Although typically black (brooches, necklaces...etc) I'm guessing the remains of a hair comb? Pretty interesting piece regardless.
Sue
Your jewelry is amazing.
