New Designs for Nashville Market!
It's that exciting time of the year!! Social media seems to be flooded with photos of new designs from designers everywhere! It's so much fun! Not to be left out in the cold, I thought it's time I posted my new designs here with all the information you might need to stitch them.
Above is A.H. to E.E. This is a reproduction of an 1806 Quaker Sampler I found at the antique markets in Pennsylvania last summer. The antique dealer I purchased the antique from told me the sampler came from England. My repro is stitched on 36-count Legacy Linen from Picture This Plus using Needlepoint Silks in just one color - #646, which is a dark shutter green. Stitched over two threads of linen on 36-count linen, using TWO strands of floss required FIVE SKEINS of silk. The stitch count is 147 stitches wide by 187 stitches high.
Eden's Dollhouse. This was a teaching piece from a class I taught in Indiana in 2019. It's an original design. I designed the house and then tried to figure out the absolute weirdest thing I could put inside of it. And Adam & Eve it was!! It's stitched on 36-count Legacy Linen from Picture This Plus using Gentle Art Sampler Threads in: Autumn Leaves, Endive, Gold Leaf, Grasshopper, Mulberry, Onyx, Raven, Piney Woods, Presidential Blue, Sable and Shaker White. The stitch count is 92 wide by 94 high.
Mary Anne March is an original design. I've been wanting to do a simple marking sampler and use the most aged colors I could find. So I did it! It is stitched with Gentle Art Sampler Threads in: Aged Pewter, Caramel Corn, Cider Mill Brown, Flax, Lexington Green, Maple Syrup, Sage and Wood Smoke. Complete instruction are provided for this fabulous finish, done by Carmen Sutton. The stitch count is 95 wide by 109 high. This piece is stitched on 40-Count Heartland from Picture This Plus.
The Mary Lutz sampler is actually a reproduction of an antique Pennsylvania-German showtowel stitched by Mary in 1835. The showtowel was a Christmas gift from my sweet daughter, Liz. This piece is stitched on 36-Count "Linen" from Weeks Dye Works using Needlepoint Silks in #124 and #986. Cross stitch is used throughout. The stitch count is 203 wide by 249 high.
M. Pillet is an exact reproduction of an antique sampler from Paris, France. It is stitched on 35-Count Beige Linen from Weeks Dye Works using Needlepoint Silks in 635 and 861. The stitch count is 113 Wide by 112 High. Complete finishing instructions are included.
B.R.'s Moth is not a reproduction of an antique sampler, but is a reproduction of an antique moth! This sampler is stitched on 40-count Havana from Weeks Dye Works using Needlepoint Silk over two threads of linen. Cross stitch is used throughout. Needlepoint Silks used are: 121, 131, 533, 692, 698, 761, 764, 767, 772, 904, 912, 964, 966, 973, 984. The stitch count is 134 wide by 105 high.
Pinstuck Pincushions. These are traditionally christening pillows and were made as a gift to new mothers. I believe this antique pincushion was made by the mother herself and was used to commemorate the birth of all of her children. Both sides of the pincushion are used to indicate the year of her childrens' births. I include complete instructions for creating your pincushion and sticking pins OR stitching the years if you prefer.
Sarah Hughes, 1821. This is an exact reproduction of an antique sampler I found in Paradise, Pennsylvania. It was hanging in an antique mall and it was love at first sight. It was also very expensive. So, I visited the sampler three times before I decided to purchase it. And when I finally did buy it, I put it on layaway for a month! It was a happy, happy day when I brought it home!
This sampler is stitched on 40-count Cocoa linen from Weeks Dye Works using Needlepoint Silk over two threads of linen. Cross stitch is used throughout. There are 17 cross stitches over one thread of linen. The stitch count is 180 wide by 415 high. Needlepoint Silk colors used are: 315, 316, 564, 587, 642, 644, 694,754, 765, 851.
Susan Hilliar, 1852. Susan's sampler is an exact reproduction of an antique English sampler stitched in 1852. The reproduction is stitched on 36-count Legacy Linen from Picture This Plus using one strand of Needlepoint Silk over both one and two threads of linen. Cross stitch is used throughout. Using motifs from the antique sampler, I designed a pincushion as a companion piece to the sampler. Stitch Count: 116 wide by 104 high. Needlepoint Silks used are: 293, 298, 587, 641, 692, 694, 761, 763, 911, 993.
A Visit From Spot. Do you remember Spot the Horse? It was a design I did under Carriage House Samplings many moon ago. I wanted to bring Spot back and here he is! The sampler is stitched on 40-count linen from Picture This Plus using Needlepoint Silk and one skein of Chimney Sweep Silk 'N Colors from The Thread Gatherer. Needlepoint Silks used are: 224, 244, 342, 634, 692, 693, 704, 763, 911, 955. I designed a companion pincushion of spot using the same colors. The stitch count of the sampler is 119 Wide by 116 High.
If you see pieces you would like to stitch, please contact your local needlework shop to pre-order the designs before Market. Shops should have them available when they return from Market. I won't be listing them in my Etsy shop for a few weeks, as I want to give shops a chance to sell them first.
Thank you!!
P.S. I'm so very sorry about the background color and font color. If I knew how to fix it, I would in a heartbeat!

Fabulous designs that you are offering at Market 2020, Kathy! While I like each one, I am really drawn to the Quaker piece in the first photo. Well done!
I just watched you and Liz on YouTube....what wonderful designs you both have created!! So far my favorites!!! Have fun at Market!
Absolutely gorgeous designs, Kathy! I so enjoyed watching the Nashville reveal video you did with Liz. I've already pre-ordered one design from each of you from Drema at Needlecraft Corner.
Love your new designs. Especially Spot. I follow you on Instagram. I am birdwatcher17 over there.
WOW great repro's Kathy ! love seeing Spot return ! good luck with your market releases - very cool ! Melody
Love your designs! Wondering if you had another Quaker design similar to: A.H. to E.E. 1806 Quaker Sampler ?
I know I stitched one many years ago and wondered if this was a companion piece. Somehow I cannot put my hand on the piece or the chart at this time (Reorganizing....) If this was a different one, I would get it to have the two together (when I find the other one that is!)
Thanks! Keep up the good work.
Stay Well and Healthy!
