Friends
I first met Heather Long through my jewelry. She would order an occasional piece and I would ship it off to Korea where she and her husband worked. We chatted via Etsy conversations and got to know each other a little bit.
Fast forward a couple years and I got to meet Heather in person! Yay! She and her husband are relocated back in the States and are making their home in Reston, Virginia. When I did the Loudoun Sampler Guild Christmas Celebration, Heather was there and I was so very, very happy to meet her. She felt like a kindred spirit.
Heather was easy to recognize by her name badge. She took a bird from my Pennsylvania Fraktur pattern and made it her own. It made me so happy! She has shared with me since that she used that bird again to make an ornament for a family friend.
How cool are these?!
And, for the Guild's ornament exchange, Heather used my Winter Swan design, stitched it over-one and changed the text to read "Loudoun Sampler Guild." Everyone loved it! (See first photo.)
I love the internet. I love how we can make friends, sight unseen. How we can connect to people we've never met and feel like they are true friends. And when we can meet these people in real life, it's such a joy.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2017 brings you health, happiness peace, joy and the opportunities you are hoping for.
