Your Opinion, Please!

I need your opinion, please.

Given these photographs of my living room....

and I know there is a lot going on in here....

Not to mention the view of my bedroom.....

Is the map of France just too much above my desk?

Be very (brutally) honest please!!

Thank you!

Nope, looks fine to me. :-)

It looks fine to me - fits in with the eclectic atmosphere very well.

I like the map, but I think it is too large for the space above your desk. I think the map over powers your desk area.

I think it looks wonderful and if you love it then that's all that matters.

Love your living room - very elegant. I think that the map looks a little out of place as it is not framed - everything else looks so polished.

Kathy, I love your living room. I think the map of France is nice since I suspect it has special meaning for you. One suggestion is to have it framed in a gold gilt frame (go all out)?

Kathy...I think the focal point in the room is the wonderful painting over the fireplace and the gorgeous fireplace itself. I think the map, because it is large, pulls your attention away from the painting and mantle. It kind of "dilutes" the impact of the focal point. Love the map...just maybe in another location.

whatever you decide will be fab ~ (personally if it were a bit smaller, or framed in a wonderful frame....)

I like it. I don't think it's too much at all, but I think the desktop items make it seem so. A basket or wood organizer would simplify the corner and put more focus on the map. But give me a minute and I'll change my mind.

def leave it. totally perfect!

It is perfect! You just need to add some wall words in French, preferably in black! Your living room looks so inviting!

Well.....what really looks out of place, is that apothecary cabinet sitting on the bench in front of the window. It definitely needs to be moved somewhere else...... Like somewhere in MY HOUSE. Ha ha ha ha !

Seriously, if the map make your socks goes up and down who cares what anyone else thinks!!!!!!

I love the map and the colors are great in there.
How about the map above the fireplace and the deer above the desk.
A frame would be nice ...Maybe a textured, textile piece behind it.

love the map but like some others a frame would be nice

No, it's not too much. If it feels right to you and it's means something to you...it's just fine. I would leave it. I like it. My daughter is in Kansas going to school and we've hung a map of Kansas up in our living room just because. :)

As a collector of old maps, 1-i am jealous, it is fabulous! I can see it gracing the walls of an ecole back in the day. 2-Leave it there! It is perfect!

I think everything is perfect in the right place, also the map!!

think the map looks great over the desk but it needs to make more of a statement - I'd paint eh wooden rods (?) at top and bottom BLACK so it really defines the map.

I love the map there. It really goes well with your décor!!!

Beth Twist said...

I like it there! But what I would do is lower it so that the bottom rod is flush with the top of the chair rail OR so that the top rod is even with the pair to the side of the desk. Then you can sit there at your laptop and imagine yourself floating away into the French air.

Dear Kathy, Rose and Bella,
I think the map looks perfect there, you have a wonderful design sense. I've never seen anything in your photos that I didn't immediately love! Keep up the good work.
Hugs to you, Rose and Bella!

Do you love it? Do all of your prized possessions have a home? If the answer to both questions is yes, call it home

I think the map probably gives you inspiration. It would me.
