A Sad Day
Yesterday was a sad day. I drove my best friend, Anne, to the airport. She went to live in Belgium. She'll be very happy and I'm very happy for her, but it sure won't be the same not having my best friend live two doors down from me.
Anne and I have always seemed to bring out the silliness in each other. We've done insane things over the past 15 years. Like the time we followed a car because a kid was in the backseat and a "suspicious looking" man was driving. After watching the man drop the kid off in a trailer park, we assumed he was ok and left. We later learned kids have to ride in the backseat. It's the law. Little did we know....
And the time Liz lent us her karaoke machine and we sang and interviewed each other in my living room. Then we made our husbands listen.
And the time we told the cop who drove through my driveway (we let him sit in our driveway to catch speeders) that the strobe light on the back porch was to illuminate ghosts.
And the countless trips we took with a mini tape recorder. We'd record ourselves talking and singing, then play it back really fast and die laughing.
And the day we discovered the thermometer in the pool made a perfect microphone. Oh, we were a joy that day!
The list goes on and on. I will truly miss my friend who appreciates the same insane-ness I do. It's a rare gift to find.

I'm sorry...I know you feel bad about sweet Anne leaving...and I'm sure she's feeling the same way too about you Kathy~ but your posts have me crying I'm laughing so hard!!! ("told the cop the strobe light was to illuminate ghosts", and, "recording us talking and singing then playing it real fast"...) oh my stars, I could only imaginge what trouble you two have caused...aren't girlfriends a blessing?? They're the only ones who completely understand us...

So sorry Kathy to see your friend move to Belgium but you seem to have wonderful memories of your lives together. Belgium is a lovely country and you will be so excited to visit, all those wonderful chocolates and brocante markets!!
It is of course very good for us Europeans and we hope and pray she will start selling her charts over here.
I'm sorry to hear your best friend moved away. The great news is that we have the internet! I know its not the same but on the other hand what a wonderful excuse to go to Belgium:)
You know, as much as it's sad that your BFF has moved away, think of what great times you had together, and what great ones you will have when you visit her! You two were so lucky to have found each other!
New memories are waiting to be made. In the meantime, the old ones will have to keep you warm.
What a sad day for you...and her. It is never easy to lose a friend or find a new one...when my friend left...I have never found another...but still looking...best wishes to you. dianntha
Anne may not be a hop, skip and a jump away, but just think of your future get-togethers....the two of you will have some seriously silly sleep-overs! And Anne will have wonderful places to share with you when you visit.
Cherish every memory-and book your ticket to Belgium soon!

Thats very sad news. Was het Anne from the good huswife?? Because I know she was going to live in Belgium. Well ... you can visit there and she can let you see the country there. belgium is a great country, as much as Netherlands where I live. Okay its not as good as living next door to her, but luckely there is always internet :)
Yes it is so sad to lose a close friend from right next door. She'll be close in your heart forever and there is always email. Not the same I know but you are both embarking on a new phase in your life. As designers - you will both be sorely missed by your devoted fans. Hugs to you both Mel
Oh, the places you will go - like Belgium! What a lucky girl you are to be able to retain your relationship with Anne through all the modern technology. Start saving your money. I'm sure your next trip will require a passport. :o)
What a bittersweet time -- but you will always have your memories and can plan visits. I was wondering if the "cloud" was keeping her from making her trip as scheduled.
Please share news from her -- and I am hoping she is able to continue to sell her wonderful charts.
I am belgian and I am living in Belgium.....you will come here..you will see..we are very kindly and our chocolates!!!!!!!! Sorry for my english!
....and getting stung by a nest of bees while gathering pinecones and not smart enough to drop the bags of pinecones to get the bees off....
the guy with the gigantic CELL phone in his pocket, where you laughed so hard you were drooling and choking in the shop...
the time i emerged from a row of clothes at a store where somehow a hanger became hooked on the bottom of my scarf and on the hanger was a gigantic pair of panties...
...the time we tried to test the dog's hearing by calling his name as high as our voices would go.."beets, beets, beets dieter"..
and that was all in one day! kidding..lolol..but there was never a dull day when we got together...ever! TOO FUN!
can't wait for you to come visit..already, i have cool places to take you...and i have the tape recorder here..lmao!
