Hiking

Spring is here! Finally! And to Rosie (my dog) and to me, spring means hikes. Hikes through the fields surrounding our house. We'll get to hike until about mid-June when the corn is planted and it's too high to walk through any more. The photo above shows where we go. Waaaaay far in the distance is a lone walnut tree. That's where we go every day.

In this photo (above), I've zoomed in on the walnut tree so you can see where we actually go. (Cause I know you are VERY interested!)

In the photo above, we've made it to the walnut tree and I've taken a photo of our house down below. You can see the barn kind of mid-photo.

In the photo above, I've zoomed in on the house from the walnut tree.

This photo (above) is a demonstration photo. See the thick white line? That's my route to the walnut tree. See the thin white line? That's Rosie's route. I figure I'm hiking a mile (round trip) and Rosie is hiking maybe 10 miles. When we get back to my studio (in the barn), Rosie goes to sleep.
This part has no photo, but I just want to tell you what happened when we hiked today. It was amazingly warm out and the wind wasn't blowing us to death, so I decided it was finally time I re-routed myself to pick up a bunch of trash in the fields. It's the least I can do for a field that lets me walk it every day. So, I picked up a ton of wal-mart bags and mcdonalds cups, etc. and guess what I found? A dollar! Is that good karma or what?

This photo is to show you the forsythia. Aren't they stunning? I can take absolutely no credit for them as they were here when we moved into this house, but I truly appreciate them.
This part has no photo either. Remember Tucker Jones, our little cock-a-poo? He died a couple weeks ago. We knew he had a major heart murmur when we got him, and knew he wouldn't have the usual cock-a-poo life span, but, two years just wasn't enough. Rosie is feeling the affects the most. She is truly lonely. I think we might need to get a new puppy for her. NOT for me, but for Rose. NOT for me, but for Rose..........

So sorry to hear about your cock-a-poo. The same thing happened to me with my dachshund last November. She had a major heart murmur and about 2 years after we got her she suddenly passed away one day. It was so sudden and unexpected. I also knew her life would be shortened but we were so surprised when it happened.

Getting another dog helped us. Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. It's like losing a dear family member. I think that maybe another acquisition will be necessary! And I love the path you take for your walks. I can only imagine how pretty it is once everything greens up!
