Fabric (again!)
This is try number two for this post. Somehow I just deleted the entire (and finished) post I just wrote without actually posting it.
The fabric process has begun!
My clotheslines are full and I haven't even emptied one tub of fabric.
I do enjoy the view as I work away at the clothesline.
It's the perfect day to hang fabric on the line....sunny, cool, very breezy...
But I've decided it will take me years to list all of this fabric on Etsy.
So I need to come up with the perfect plan to start giving fabric away on my blog.
I'm thinking I need to find a way to give you the fabric in the colors you prefer without it costing me a fortune in postage. Fabric is heavy! In fact, I need to line the wheelbarrow with old fabric so I can bring all the fabric up to the clothesline from the barn in bigger quantities. That will help!
When I come up with the perfect plan, I will let you know!

Fabric and More Fabric
In the last couple of days, I've been cleaning out my old studio in the barn. It was a bit trashed.
What I've discovered is that I have fabric. LOTS of fabric. In fact, I have 11 rubbermaid tubs FULL of fabric.
There are cottons and linens and wools and velvets and more cottons and more linens and more wools and more velvets.
It's absolutely crazy!!
So, the fabric is going to go!
"Where?" you might ask.... well, I'm thinking Etsy.
There is just too much of it to trash. I can't think of a single family member who might like it.
And there are some gorgeous pieces. Both large and small. So, I'm going to spend the next several days/weeks/months airing it out on the clothes line, photographing it and listing it on Etsy.
And I hope to have 11 very empty rubbermaid tubs very soon! Wish me luck!

I'm Home Again!
Just got back from a fabulous, fabulous weekend in Syria, Virginia with the most awesome group of stitching women ever! Sponsored by The Stitcher's Stash in Fairfax, Virginia and held in the most wonderful, rustic log cabin building, it was a weekend of fun and laughter and stitching and catching up with old friends, meeting new friends and more! Jackie, the owner of Stitcher's Stash, obviously put tons of thought and work into this event and it was oh so very successful. I can't wait to go back again next year!
My new designs were debuted and were well received. I'll be loading all of them on my Etsy page either tonight or tomorrow morning. You'll be the first to know! The sampler above is one of my new designs. It's called Miss Martha's Potting Shed and is named after my sister Marty.
The last new design you haven't seen yet is below:
This one is called Christmas Day, 1826.
Also, Jackie has several remaining kits of the Black Heart available if you'd like to order one through her. Once her kits are gone, the chart will be unavailable for a few months, until I officially release the design. Jackie's kits include the necessary Needlepoint Silk and Weeks Dye Works' Putty linen available in either 30 or 35 count. You can reach Jackie at 703-218-3131 or you can email her at: thestash@verizon.net
I'm off to get some much needed sleep! Be back soon!

I forgot....
to tell you one more thing!
When a jewelry girl is going to an event, and she's been invited to bring her jewelry, she brings her jewelry. And when given enough notice, as I was in this case, she makes jewelry. And when making jewelry for a stitching event, she makes stitching jewelry!
That's all!
Hikes, Retreats and Another New Design
Spring finally arrived in Pennsylvania this week! FINALLY!! And around here, the arrival of Spring means our daily hikes across the fields have resumed.
Rose and Bella are oh so happy!
I'm leaving today for Graves Mountain Lodge in Virginia for The Stitcher's Stash weekend stitching retreat. I'll be presenting a project there called The Black Heart. I'm so excited to see everyone and to have a weekend of stitching and hanging out with friends!
Here's a photo of the class project:
And, here is a photo of my second new design, to be released in the next week or two:
This is Adam & Eve.
Coming soon to an Etsy shop near you!
Happy Weekend everyone!
(p.s. Both of these gorgeous frames are available from Valley House Primitives. Janet and Mike do INCREDIBLE work!)

A New Design!
Coming in the next week or two will be four new designs. Yay! They are all stitched, framed, photographed and in the printer's capable hands.
Here's a photo of one of them:
This one is called "Deer Heart". It, and the other three, will be on my Etsy page very soon!

The Tombstone
Since so many of you are interested (ha!), I took a couple of photos of the tombstone we dug up when we first moved to Pennsylvania eight years ago. I was actually better able to read the tombstone from the photos than I was from the actual stone itself.
After finding the tombstone, we dug deeper and farther out than originally planned, but found no signs of a box or bones. Just the tombstone. It's a mystery.
The tombstone reads:
Lewis E.
son of
Daniel B. & Lilly
LEAS
Died March 15, 1901
Aged 11 months
and 11 days
At least that's what I believe it reads.
It will be interesting to see what happens when I move it off the property.......ohhhhhhhhhh!

New Jewelry on a Saturday Morning
After a week of doing chart lay-outs, framing, photographing samplers and everything else involved with getting new designs ready, it was wonderful to spend my Saturday morning making jewelry!
My daughter Liz is totally behind this piece. She set the portrait piece in a sterling bezel for me and she made the heart-linked chain when she was in college. Each and every link is hand made and hand soldered.
This piece is all me.
Like the bracelet? The sweet silver links are from France.
Notice the background on the above photo. It's a tombstone! When we dug our compost pile when we first moved in here, we found this tombstone buried in the ground. Weird, huh?
It weighs a ton and has been sitting down near the compost pile behind the barn ever since we found it. Yesterday I got a dolly and brought it up to the back porch so I could use it for shooting photos.
It's SO me. Sheesh!!

New Designs Coming Soon!
In two or three short weeks, I'll be releasing four new designs for your stitching pleasure!
One is an Adam & Eve Sampler. You've seen photos of Adam and Eve a few weeks ago. Above is another little piece of this sampler
One is called Miss Martha's Potting Shed (after my sister Marty). Below are a few little pieces to intrigue you!
Another new design is called Christmas Day, 1826. It's a primitive little sampler (which I stitched myself!!):
There you go! Not enough to give anything away, but little close-ups just to whet your whistle!

Tax Day
It's TAX day here in Kathy-ville.
There are stacks of papers and receipts and files all over the place.
On my desk, on the beds, in windowsills...
And on the floor!
YUCK.
Hope your day is much more fun!
