Oh, My...

Yesterday was a trying day. Art was working on some electrical issues in the barn, related to the pool, but connected to my studio. Something happened. As a result, I no longer have a phone/fax machine in my studio. Today has been amazingly quiet! But I feel like I'm missing out on.....well, something!

So, I'll have my cell phone in here with me at all times. You can reach me at 443-536-6710.

Please don't hesitate. I don't like this missing out feeling!

Unrelated to yesterday's ordeal, my camera batteries seem to have died. I can't get them to re-charge. They are weird batteries. It's making me crazy. Just thought you'd like to know.

Is this a boring post or what???

Look!

Nan Lewis in Philadelphia sent me this photo of a pincushion she made using Lydia C. Eichelberger's chart. How cool is this!??!

Spot the Horse

My friend Carmen Sutton, from Doublecross in Knoxville, TN, sent me this photo of her Spot the Horse. How cool is this???!! I love how she put corner squares on her pillow! She's a clever, clever girl with the most amazing finishing skills. The stitching girls in Knoxville are lucky to have her...and I am lucky to call her my friend.

A Gift

I received a gift in the mail today. It's the most gorgeous necklace ever. It was made by Nicole of Sacred Adornments. She makes the most amazing jewelry. You definitely want to visit website shop at www.sacredadornments.etsy.com. I believe she is on vacation now, but promises her new spring line will be available soon. You won't want to miss it!
Thank you Nicole, from the bottom of my heart. I love, love, love it! And I will treasure it always.
P.S. This relates to my previous post....Today Rose and I were hiking the fields, as usual. I picked up an old soda bottle to bring home and pitch and guess what I found right beside it....a dollor!!! Again!!!

Cleaning Frenzy

Well, a short-lived, abbreviated cleaning frenzy anyway. My jewelry bench, as you can see in the above photo, was out of control. I ended up with about 5-square inches of work space and the rest of the work surface was just covered with stuff.

After! Now I have work sruface!!

And the entire frenzy was due to the purchase of these two treasures. Go figure!
Ok, it's 3:30 AM my time and I really need some sleep, so goodnight everyone!

Hiking

Spring is here! Finally! And to Rosie (my dog) and to me, spring means hikes. Hikes through the fields surrounding our house. We'll get to hike until about mid-June when the corn is planted and it's too high to walk through any more. The photo above shows where we go. Waaaaay far in the distance is a lone walnut tree. That's where we go every day.

In this photo (above), I've zoomed in on the walnut tree so you can see where we actually go. (Cause I know you are VERY interested!)

In the photo above, we've made it to the walnut tree and I've taken a photo of our house down below. You can see the barn kind of mid-photo.

In the photo above, I've zoomed in on the house from the walnut tree.

This photo (above) is a demonstration photo. See the thick white line? That's my route to the walnut tree. See the thin white line? That's Rosie's route. I figure I'm hiking a mile (round trip) and Rosie is hiking maybe 10 miles. When we get back to my studio (in the barn), Rosie goes to sleep.
This part has no photo, but I just want to tell you what happened when we hiked today. It was amazingly warm out and the wind wasn't blowing us to death, so I decided it was finally time I re-routed myself to pick up a bunch of trash in the fields. It's the least I can do for a field that lets me walk it every day. So, I picked up a ton of wal-mart bags and mcdonalds cups, etc. and guess what I found? A dollar! Is that good karma or what?

This photo is to show you the forsythia. Aren't they stunning? I can take absolutely no credit for them as they were here when we moved into this house, but I truly appreciate them.
This part has no photo either. Remember Tucker Jones, our little cock-a-poo? He died a couple weeks ago. We knew he had a major heart murmur when we got him, and knew he wouldn't have the usual cock-a-poo life span, but, two years just wasn't enough. Rosie is feeling the affects the most. She is truly lonely. I think we might need to get a new puppy for her. NOT for me, but for Rose. NOT for me, but for Rose..........

Forgot...

There are two things I forgot to mention....

The forsythia are GORGEOUS!!!! And if it weren't 45 degrees and windy as heck, I'd go out and take a photo for you. You'll just have to take my word for it!

I am temporarily unable to update my website. Please bear with me. Evidently my server changed and passwords haven't been updated. Or something.

That's it!

So Many Issues, So Little Time...

I'm very sorry for being so quiet lately. It's been a busy spring. Doesn't quite feel like spring, but it's been busy anyway! I JUST - two minutes ago - finished packing up all my income tax stuff for 2008. Everything has been mailed off to the accountant and all I can do now is wait (nervously) for the returns to be mailed back. NOT my favorite issue, for sure!

Then there's house stuff and barn stuff. We've started working on my old office in the house. So far, we haven't done much except install a wood stove (Yay, heat!), rip up carpet and try to make it look like a room. There is much to be done. There's a beam in the middle of the ceiling which supports the bedroom floor above. The beam is supported by a vertical beam which is sitting in the doorway into the living room. Makes for a tiny doorway. So, we have to remove that vertical beam and find an alternate way to support the ceiling beam. And, Art wants to fir out all the walls a few inches and insulate the room. It is truly freezing in there. But, this means taking out all the wood trim first and it will mean rebuilding the wood window well casings afterwards. Stone houses have wonderfully large window sills and ours will be even larger when he's done. And, we have to rip out the heat vents, which block a doorway. This is the case in the laundry room next door to my old office, so the project expands. Before we do any of this, we need to move some plumbing around under my old office (we HAVE to come up with a name for that room!) so our pipes no longer freeze. These are NOT fun projects!! I'm sure it will be fall before that room is finished.

So.....moving onward....there's the wiring we had to re-do for the swimming pool lights. This meant running three strands of wire, inside pipes, from one end of our 80-foot barn to the other. If you've never pulled wire, please take my advice....don't!! That was a couple day project.

We're also doing a lot of grass seeding. That's not a bad project. You just scrape up the ground and throw seeds down. Then you wait for sunny days and run outside every chance you get to see if grass is growing yet. That part is fun!

I'm still making jewelry, making charts, designing a little, fretting over Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow, the usual.

We're supposed to have snow tomorrow. Can you believe that?!! MAN!!!!

I hope you are all enjoying your spring, wherever you may be.
