Finally!
It's been a while, huh? Sorry about that. Life has been too crazy. I taught last weekend in Ohio at Shelley Mumano's fabulous Retreat and did a show this weekend in Annandale, VA. I do have photos for you, but they're in Anne's camera. I'll post them in the next couple days.
In the meantime, it seems I've been tagged. Thank you Liz. I'll get you back! So, here goes:
Favorite artist/designer: Too many to choose just one....Liz Mathews, Anne Brown, Tracy Riffle, Christine Crocker, Edward Hicks, Jacob Maentel, Rufus Porter....
I love to create using: metals, old stuff, beads, needle and thread
What inspires me: old samplers, early folk art, early portraits, antiques in general
Favorite medium besides my own: Paint
Most inspirational city: Paris I would assume, but since I haven't been there yet, I'm not sure. I hope to get there soon!
Ideal weekend off: I don't do weekends off! I work! That's the downside of working at home. Ok, if I arranged a weekend off it would include: swimming, hiking with my dogs, napping, antiquing
Favorite color: browns, blacks, golds
Favorite musician: oh man....Jackson Brown, Carlos Santana, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton. I'm very 70's!
Favorite Movie: Family Stone
Favorite Song Lyric: Haven't a clue!
If I could have any other job it would be: writer
I wish: ok, I wish for health and happiness for Art, Liz, Casey, Anne, my family, my friends, everyone!

Two Posts in One Day!!
This afternoon I finished putting the first coat of paint on the walls in my new studio. I still have to do all the cutting in, but all the rolling is done. After a trip to Lowes to buy more paint, I'll be able to finish painting completely tomorrow. Then the moving can start! I'd love to be all moved in this weekend, but am not sure if that can happen or not. Hopefully I can be completely set up sometime next week. As you can see, there's a small room behind my studio that I'll be able to use for storage. No more boxes and bags of bubblewrap all over the place! This room is more than twice the size of my current workroom. It's going to be fabulous!!
I love it down in the barn. It's a huge, huge barn, built in 1893. We assume it's the second barn on this site because barns were always built before houses and our house was built in 1804. It's completely pegged - no nails were used to construct the beamed frame. I'll post photos of the outside once we get it painted. We got the barn roof painted this summer, but didn't get the barn itself done. Everything always takes longer than you think. (See paragraph above. I probably have the most unreasonable expectations!)

Another reason for taking photos inside the barn today was to search for bats. I am truly terrified of bats. In the summer, dozens of them live in our barn. Art keeps telling me it's a good thing, but I just can't buy it. I'm so happy my studio is completely enclosed!

I'm off to Lowes. Hope you're all having a good one!
Catching Up
Happy October!!! I truly love October. And today was an exceptionally October-y kind of day. This morning I put away all my summer clothes and got out my winter clothes. And then, oh joy oh joy!, I went down to the barn to paint in my studio and what did I see? The farmer who farms the fields around our house are cutting the corn. YAY!!! That makes me so incredibly happy! Starting tomorrow morning, I get to resume my daily hikes through the fields with the dogs. I've been waiting months and months! A major bonus of the corn cutting are all the ears of corn left behind. Rose and Tucker LOVE corn.
